ESPN extends broadcast rights of Formula 1 through 2028 in Spanish-speaking South America, Central America, and the Caribbean

ESPN and Formula 1 have announced a multi-year extension of its partnership to broadcast F1 across its linear channels and Disney+ Premium Tier in Spanish-speaking South America, Central America and the Caribbean over the next three seasons.

In a deal through to the end of the 2028 season, ESPN will broadcast every practice and qualifying session, F1 Sprint and Grand Prix across all 24 Grands Prix. Fans can also watch the support races such as F1 ACADEMY™ and the Porsche Super Cup series, and a broader agreement has been reached to broadcast Formula 2 and Formula 3 races.

Fans across 18 Spanish-speaking territories in Latin America and the Caribbean will receive a comprehensive, high-quality viewing experience, complemented by driver interviews and expert insights from renowned commentators Fernando Tornello and Juan Fossaroli.

2026 is gearing up to be one of the most highly anticipated seasons in Formula 1 history, with the new regulations likely to reset the order of the grid.

The new season will begin in Australia, from March 6 to 8, and conclude in Abu Dhabi, ten months later from 4-6 December. This year, Formula 1 welcomes Audi and Cadillac to the grid, and Ford returns to the sport as a Technical Partner for Red Bull. The Madring in Madrid joins the F1 calendar, bringing the energy of Formula 1 back to Madrid.

The battle for the world championship will pit McLaren’s Lando Norris, who looks to retain his crown, against teammate Oscar Piastri and four-time World Champion Max Verstappen.

There will be strong Latin representation on the grid with Argentine Franco Colapinto (Alpine), the return of Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez racing for Cadillac and Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto representing Audi. In F2, notable drivers include Argentine Nicolás Varrone, Colombian Sebastián Montoya, and Paraguayan Joshua Durksen, while in F3, 17-year-old Italian-Argentine Mattia Colnaghi will also compete.

“The extension of this agreement with Formula 1 strengthens a collaboration that reinforces ESPN’s commitment to excellence in sports content. Through comprehensive, multiplatform coverage, we will continue bringing the passionate audiences of Spanish-speaking South America, Central America, and the Caribbean the highest level of international motorsport,” stated Michael Walters, Vice President of Programming and Acquisitions, ESPN.

Ian Holmes, Chief Media Rights and Broadcasting Officer of Formula 1, said: “ESPN has been a trusted broadcast partner for many years, so we are excited to continue our collaboration, and take our sport to even more fans as we witness incredible growth across Latin America and the Caribbean. This has been helped enormously by the dedication and passion of the ESPN team to bring our fans the latest F1 action through world class broadcasting. We look forward to working with them into 2026 as the next generation of regulations come into force, which will shake up the competition and create huge excitement and drama.”
